Show pick:Cobra Verde
Cobra Verde's latest CD, "Easy Listening," is hook-laden rock cocktail with lots of twists - adding shots of glam, punk, metal, pop, garage and mod stylings. It could be an inconsistent mess, but it works.
The band, which formed in 1992 with members of Death of Samantha, also worked with Guided by Voices, but that was "kinda boring," said singer-guitarist John Petkovic.
Cobra Verde, featuring J. Mascis on guitar, performs at the Mercury Lounge
(217 E. Houston; [212] 260-4700) on Friday, and at Southpaw (125 Fifth Ave.,
Brooklyn; [718] 230-0236) on Saturday.
